Our first group competition was the choir. They sang “Joshua” and literally gave it all they had. They worked on areas that were marked on the judges sheets from Regional and took those improvements to state and WON! Thank you to Riverview Baptist Church for allowing them the opportunity to sing the Sunday before going to State, to have a chance to sing in front of a big audience.

After the choir performed it was a mad dash over to the chapel for the ensemble to compete. We ran into the practice room, sang through 2 verses and reviewed a couple of things to focus on, ran down stairs to the chapel and sang with such energy and accuracy that I was blown away! We were so happy when both groups were announced at the end of the day, at the awards ceremony, as first place winners!

Also bringing home ribbons were Austin Pennington: Second with his painting in level 2, Amber Otey: Third with her Architectural/Landscape photography in level 2, Morgan Harding: Second in Poetry Writing and Third in Still Life Photography Level 2, Hannah Perkins: Third in Digital Photography Level 2, and Logan Cox: Third in Still Life Photography in level 3.  We were also very proud of Sophie Steele: Dramatic Interpretation level 2 and Rebekah Cox: Dramatic Interpretation Level 3.  Both girls represented JCA very well against some very tough competition! Way to go everybody!
